APRIL IN MY MIND - 30 pieces in 30 days

ALBUM RELEASE DATE: 01 April 2022

In April 2020 during the first lockdown I decided to ‘run’ a composition marathon, writing a short piece for the piano every day for a whole month.  The pieces were shared on my YouTube channel every day. I took inspiration from my memories, family, the weather, places I like, the daily news and Jesus Christ’s sacrifice at Easter. This is a completely homemade album. The pieces were composed, notated, practised, recorded and mastered in the very same room. I owe a huge thank you to my family for supporting me, and to the Lord for blessing me with these pieces and giving me the strength to carry on. I hope you will enjoy listening to them!

EGY UTOLSÓ NÓTA (ONE LAST SONG)

Music and lyrics by Mátyás Bacsó and Rita Branyiczky 

This piece I wrote in memory of my grandfather, Dénes Pongrácz, who loved the traditional Hungarian folk tunes, the 'nóta's. When we met we would always sing together. Today, if I hear any of these songs I always think of him. Hence the style of the song. Originally, it was only a piano piece, until an extremely talented lyricist from Budapest, Rita Branyicky decided to write lyrics to it and send it to me. At first, I was a bit unsure about having lyrics to this piece, but when I looked at it, the lyrics reflected exactly what I wanted to express in music.
